Part XIV:
Valentines Day
Valentines Day:
On this day, with joy so sweet,
To Bocelli's concert, we took our seat.
My date, as graceful as a swan,
Outshining Princesses at dawn
From head to toe, she shone, a sight,
While I, unworthy, paled in her light.
My dreams, my hopes, my fears laid bare,
Beside this Angel, beyond compare.
Uncomfortable, my critique I shared,
A performance lacking, words too impaired.
To my dismay, a Fool I see,
Dampening her Valentine's, unworthy, I am to be.
The specter lingered, in shadows it stood,
Not daring to intrude on love's pure good.
For 'twas not her I criticized, but me,
My fear of failure, my heart longs to flee.
A Fool I remain, not yet the Man to be,
But to brighten my Angel's day, I can see,
Beside this Angel, who sees only the best in me.
A Man I have to be
Introduction:
She was gorgeous—dressed impeccably from head to toe—joining me for an Andrea Bocelli concert on a warm Valentine's Day in 2023. I had flowers ready in the back of the car, yet something held me back from fully immersing in the experience with her and making a wholehearted effort to ensure her happiness.
Perhaps it was my annoyance with life and recent changes. Or the fear that this girl embodied everything I'd ever wanted after decades of searching.
Regardless, it was our first Valentine's Day, and I failed miserably. She deserved better, and I didn't step up at all.

Hindsight is 20/20; we learned that the most valuable part of our journey are the lessons learned. With 2024 Bocelli Christmas tickets in hand, I hope and pray for a 2nd chance to make things right.
