Part XIII:
The Airport

The Airport:

A humble feast with bread and cheese,
And salmon caught with skill and pride.
Matcha's brew to soothe and ease,
Midst life's tumultuous, roaring tide.

A call or text, we plan to meet,
Through bustling streets, our paths align.
'Midst swirling crowds, a joy so sweet,
Her hidden smile, a precious sign.

Her voice, a gentle lullaby,
In Slavic winds, beneath the sky.
Her smile, a beacon shining high,
Guiding through darkness, far and nigh.

Time's fleeting breath, our bond endears,
My heart aches when she disappears.
In tales of nights and joyful tears,
A love enduring through the years.

An act so small, yet shining bright,
A glimpse of love in shadow's plight.
This is what she yearns to share,
Oh, Fool, why can't you see, and care?

Once a Fool with blinded sight,
Who shattered love's pure, golden light.
But now a Man with eyes unblurred,
Hands outstretched and heart assured.

The Specter lurks, his shadows sprawl,
Casting doubt where hope once called.
To serve his Maiden, brave and bold,
In steadfast love, their story told.

Introduction:

Alexandra traveled for work, journeying from her new home in Ft. Lauderdale to New Jersey. While Ubers are modern-day conveniences, being greeted by a loved one is what truly warms the heart and keeps us going.

I fondly recall the time I picked her up at the airport. I had prepared a sandwich for her, found a revitalizing drink, and had everything ready. Despite a long week and a difficult flight, she remained untouched by fatigue and aggravation. She radiated joy as I navigated through the crowd of cars to reach her light.

As my words take shape on this screen, I reflect on how wonderful it was—and could be again—to see her light and be her light as we face life's challenges together. Her smile, her happiness, our kiss, a much needed embrace —moments of pure perfection. Having someone waiting for us, replacing the cold, lonely darkness with warmth and love.

It broke my heart when she texted me to say how much she missed me picking her up at the airport.
